Courage and Sacrifice-Appleton in WWI Riverside Cemetery Tour

  • Riverside Cemetery 714 North Owaissa Street Appleton, WI, 54911 United States (map)

In 1919, the world was finally at peace after four terrible years of war. This May will mark the 104th Anniversary of a particular group of Appleton soldiers who came home after their involvement in World War I. Join us as we walk the historic grounds of Riverside Cemetery and remember the courage and sacrifice of Appleton's Company A - the 150th Machine Gun Battalion - and their remarkable service during World War I. Discover what it was like to be on the homefront in Appleton, and learn about Appletonians whose lives were forever changed by The Great War. This two-hour walking tour begins under the stone arches at the entrance to Riverside Cemetery. A pair of good walking shoes is recommended and camping chairs are welcome!

The walk is free to attend. Donations to the Riverside Veterans headstone replacement project and Appleton Historical Society will be accepted in cash, check, or donation on the appletonhistory.com website.

The event will be presented on May 24th 6-8 p.m. and May 31st. 6-8 p.m.
